My Official Retirement Date: July 10, 2023
Overview
Approximately six months ago, I informed my manager of my intention to retire and provided two months’ notice. The company initially requested that I stay for a full year, but my first reaction was that this felt too long. In hindsight, this turned out to be a fortunate turn of events. I ultimately agreed to remain with the company until July 10, 2023, accompanied by a modest retention package.
Financial Note
Since making my retirement announcement and for the remainder of 2022, my stock portfolio has declined by about 12%. This experience has underscored the importance of maintaining a diversified, long-term financial plan, especially during transitions.
Plans and Aspirations
With retirement on the horizon, I’ve begun planning travel to broaden my horizons. I have already booked our first international trip since the onset of COVID-19, a spring journey to Asia. In addition, I am organizing a summer trip to Europe to continue exploring the world.
